The Centre for Southeast Asian and Pacific Studies (CSEA&PS), sponsored by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Area Studies Programme, was established in 1976 at Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. It is a multidisciplinary research Centre representing five disciplines: Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History and Political Science. CSEA&PS has been promoting research on the political, economic, social and strategic aspects of the Area under study. Centre's research findings are published periodically in the form of monographs, articles, books and journals. Besides organizing seminars and workshops, the Centre is actively involved in interaction with related research organizations in India and abroad to promote an exchange of views and collection of literature on the contemporary developments of the Study Area. The CSEA&PS has a fairly good library to cater to the needs of the scholars pursuing research on the regions of Southeast Asia and Pacific and other related areas. The staff of the Centre includes a Director and four faculty members. True to its multi-disciplinary character, the Centre’s faculty is drawn from different disciplines to pursue research on various aspects of the Study Area.
